Ingredients (Serves 3)
- Yakisoba noodles , fresh preferred – 7 oz
2. Steak, thinly sliced – 100 gm
Salt and pepper – As required
Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
3. Vegetable oil or peanut oil – 1 – 1.5 tbsp
Onion – 1/2 cup, sliced
Cabbage – 1 cup, cut into squares
Carrot – 1 small, thinly sliced
Mushroom – 3 – 4, sliced
You can also add other vegetables such as snow peas, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy etc
4. Dark soy sauce – 2 – 3 tsp or as required
Oyster sauce – 1 – 2 tsp, optional
Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp
Sugar – 1/4 tsp
5. Salt and pepper – As required to taste
6. Spring onion (green part) – 2 – 3 tbsp, to garnish
7. Dried seaweed (bonito) and pickled red ginger – To garnish
Method
1. Fill a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Add fresh yakisoba noodles and cook for 1 minute until done or according to package instructions. Drain in a colander.
2. Combine steak with other ingredients numbered 2. Set aside for 5 minutes.
3. In a small bowl, combine ingredients numbered 4.
4. Heat 2 – 3 tsp oil in a wok/ non stick pan over high heat. Swirl gently to coat the entire wok. Add marinated beef strips and cook for 2 minutes until it develops a slightly crisp crust and is almost done, stirring in between. Add all the vegetables numbered 3. Stir-fry for 1 – 2 minutes. Add yakisoba noodles and ingredients numbered 4. Stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add a pinch of salt if required and pepper powder. Garnish with chopped spring onion. Serve as is or with any side-dishes of your choice.
