Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Lemon Spaghetti

Garlic Butter Steak Bites

Ingredients (Serves 3)

Adapted from here

  1. Steak (tenderloin, sirloin etc) – 400 – 500  gm, cut into small cubes

Garlic powder – 1/8 tsp

Onion powder – 1/2 tsp

Paprika – 1/2 tsp

Salt and pepper – As required

2. Oil – 1 tbsp

3. Butter – 1 tbsp or as needed

4. Garlic, minced – 3 – 4 cloves

5. Fresh parsley, finely chopped – 1 – 2 tbsp

Method

  1. Combine steak cubes with the remaining ingredients numbered 1. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil (I used avocado oil) in a cast iron pan over high heat. Add steak cubes in 1 – 2 batches and spread in a single layer. Cook undisturbed for 2 minutes so that the bottom portion gets well-seared. Now flip to the other side and cook for 1 minute. You can bring down the heat to medium-high. Add 1 tbsp butter and minced garlic. Cook for 1 – 2 minutes depending on your desired level of doneness and switch off the flame. (Do not overcook the steak cubes, it takes a total of 4 – 5 minutes only (for well done)). Sprinkle frsh parsley and serve immediately with mashed potato, salad or pasta. We had it with lemon pasta (recipe below).

Lemon Garlic Spaghetti

Ingredients (Serves 3 – 4) 

  1. Spaghetti / linguine pasta – 1/2 pound

2. Extra virgin olive oil – 1 tbsp

3. Garlic – 3 – 4 medium cloves, thinly sliced

4. Butter – 2 – 3 tsp

Crushed chili flakes – 1/2 tsp

5. Fresh parsley – 4 – 5 tbsp, finely chopped

6. Fresh lemon juice – 3 tbsp  or to taste

Lemon zest, grated – 1/2 tsp

7. Parmesan cheese – 1/4 cup, grated

8. Salt and pepper – To taste

Method

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta cooking water.

2. Place 1.5 tbsp olive oil and garlic in a pan. Switch on the heat to low-medium and cook until garlic turns light golden and fragrant. Add 2 – 3 tsp butter, crushed chilli flakes and stir for a few seconds till butter melts. Add cooked pasta and 1/4 cup hot pasta cooking water. Cook for 1 – 2 minutes over medium heat. Taste-check for salt. Switch off the flame. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese, pepper powder, chopped parsley and fresh lemon juice. Toss well. Serve lemon spaghetti immediately with garlic butter steak bites.
